Who’s Moving (June 2017) tracks who has moved careers in the healthcare, academic and life sciences sectors globally.

Professor Colin Picker has left his role as Associate Dean, International at UNSW Faculty of Law to become Dean of the School of Law at the University of Wollongong.

Ms Margaret Martin is leaving SA Health to join Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD as Executive Director, Clinical Operations.

Professor Carolyn Evans, currently the Dean of Melbourne Law School has been appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Provost at the University of Melbourne.

Mr Ian Wright is moving to The Mater Group as the CFO, leaving his role at Health Support Queensland as General Manager, Corporate Services.

Mr Steve Townsend is the new Chief Digital Information Officer at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, having previously worked for Transport for London, London Underground and the Docklands Light Railway. Also joining Guy’s and St Thomas’ is Ms Julie Screaton who is leaving her current role as Regional Director London and the South East for Health Education England to join the trust as Director of Workforce and Organisational Development.

Professor Stephen Croucher is joining Massey University as the Head of School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing, coming from his position at the University of Jvväskylä.

Dr Katie Urch has been appointed the new Divisional Director for Surgery, Cardiovascular and Cancer at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Professor Rudolf Allemann who has been a Professor in the School of Chemistry at Cardiff University since 2005 is taking up the role of Pro Vice Chancellor of the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering.

Professor Nigel Brandon has been appointed Dean of Imperial College London’s Faculty of Engineering. Professor Brandon is currently the Director of Imperial’s Sustainable Gas Institute and will take up his new role in October 2017.

Newcastle University has appointed Professor Brian Walker as its new Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research Strategy and Resources, a post he will take up in September. Professor Walker joins Newcastle from the University of Edinburgh where he is currently the Dean of Research in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and Head of the British Heart Foundation Centre for Cardiovascular Science.

The University of Nottingham has announced that Professor Shearer West will be its next President and Vice-Chancellor. Professor West is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sheffield and will take up her new post in October.

The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London has appointed Professor Gillian Douglas as its new Executive Dean. Professor Douglas joins King’s College London from Cardiff University, where she served as Head of School of Law between 2005-2010.

Professor Ashley Adamson has been named the new director of the NIHR School for Public Health Research, a £20.5m collaboration of eight organisations. Professor Adamson is Professor of Public Health Nutrition at Newcastle University and Director of Fuse.

Newcastle University has appointed Professor Sharon Mavin as the new director of its Business School. Professor Mavin is currently Director of the Business School at the University of Roehampton and will join Newcastle University Business School in September 2017.

King’s College London has announced that Professor Mike Curtis has been appointed as the next Executive Dean of its Dental Institute. Professor Curtis is currently serving as Dean of Dentistry and Deputy Vice-Principal Health at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL and will take up his new appointment in September.

The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has appointed conceptual artist Professor Bashir Makhoul as Vice-Chancellor. Professor Makhoul will join UCA in June 2017 from Birmingham City University, where he is Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Sarah Hainsworth has been named the new Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean of Aston University School of Engineering & Applied Science. Professor Hainsworth joins Aston University from the University of Leicester, where she served as Head of the Engineering Department.

Saskia Loer Hansen has been announced as new the Pro-Vice-Chancellor- International of Aston University. Saskia was Executive Director, Global Development and Performance at RMIT University in Melbourne, where she had responsibility for the University’s transnational education partnerships and global relations.

Coventry University have appointed Kai Peters as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Business and Law. Kai was previously Chief Executive at Ashridge Business School and following the merger of Ashridge with Hult International Business School in 2015, he was Chief Academic Officer of the combined school.

Professor Rob Bristow has been appointed as the director of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre at the University of Manchester. Professor Bristow, who is currently at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and University of Toronto, Canada, will take up his appointment in August.

Professor Heather McLaughlin has recently taken up a new position as Academic Dean of Business and Law at Coventry University. Professor McLaughlin was previously of the Business School at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Professor Patricia Livsey has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cumbria. Professor Livsey joins from Plymouth University where she is currently Dean in the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences and will take up her new role in July.

Mr Rathakrishnan Govind has been appointed London School of Business and Finance’s Global CEO. Mr Govind is currently Managing Director of LSBF Singapore.

The University of York has appointed Jo Horsburgh as its new Registrar and Secretary. Currently the Strategy Director at the University of Warwick, Jo Horsburgh will take up her post in June.

Professor Andrew Husband has been appointed as the Head of the newly-created School of Pharmacy at Newcastle University, which will take in the first students this September. Professor Husband has moved from Durham University where he was a Dean, responsible for the design and development of Pharmacy.

Cardiff University have announced that Professor Gary Baxter will be the new Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences. Professor Baxter is currently Head of the School of Pharmacy at Cardiff.

Professor Rachael Gooberman-Hill has been appointed to the role of Director of Elizabeth Blackwell Institute at the University of Bristol. Professor Gooberman-Hill is currently Professor of Health and Anthropology at Bristol and she will commence her new role on 1 August 2017.

The University of Sussex has appointed Dr Tim Westlake as Chief Operating Officer. Dr Westlake is currently the Director for the Student Experience at the University of Manchester and will take up his new position in August.
