The University of Hull invites applications for a Director of the new Hull Health Trials Unit (HHTU). The successful applicant will be a leader in their field with a national or international profile, with the ability and ambition to build their reputation and direct the HHTU’s evolution to an internationally competitive level.
The HHTU is a joint undertaking by Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Hull and represents the strategic development of this relationship.
The establishment of the HHTU is the first step towards realising the vision that Hull will be recognised as a leading centre of health research, engaging in a wide range of innovative and nationally recognised projects, built on a strong and seamless University-NHS partnership integrating research and clinical care, which generates significant clinical, financial, political, social and technical benefits.
The Director will lead the development of the HHTU and will be responsible for setting its overall research strategy. Developing a focused and sustainable portfolio of clinical trials, the Director will be an outstanding leader, with a strong record of achievement in a major research field. S/he will bring internationally recognised knowledge of trials design, implementation and evaluation, as well as the ability to develop strategic external relationships, in order to promote and develop the HHTU and expand its portfolio of studies.
