At Ccentric Group our focus is to provide executive search across the Healthcare, Academic and Not-for-profit/Government sectors, globally.

While our work for most of these organisations is often executive and clinical leadership, there is also a need for other corporate roles. In 2018 we placed numerous candidates in various Corporate positions. A few examples include:

Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), Head of Philanthropy & Fundraising

CERA specialise in eliminating the major eye diseases that cause vision loss and blindness and a role became available for somebody who could excel in a position of communication. CERA’s main vision was to achieve exceptional philanthropy results which would contribute to its long-term sustainability.

We conducted an extensive research, searching across Medical Research Institutes, University, Public and Not-For-Profit Health Services, Charities and other Not-For-Profit Organisations for appropriate candidates, eventually shortlisting five excellent candidates.

The successful candidate was Ms Sarah Rainbird, beginning her position with CERA in February. She was previously the National Donor Relations Manager at Save the Children Australia.

Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), Head of Communications and Marketing

MCRI is the leading children’s health research organisation in Australia whose main goal is to make discoveries that transform child health worldwide. MCRI were seeking a motivated and inspiring individual to implement a new strategy and increase brand awareness.

 We conducted an extensive research, searching for marketing and communications managers across Medical Research Institutes, University, Public and Not-For-Profit Health Services, Charities and other Not-For-Profit Organisations, and Government agencies, shortlisting seven exceptional candidates.

Ms Michelle Wearing-Smith was successfully placed in the role, having worked at the MCRI as a Marketing and Communications contractor, Michelle had previously been the Chief Marketing Officer at FRUGL, a consumer services firm.

CFO, Mater Group

Mater Misericordiae Limited is a private not-for-profit organisation comprised of Mater Health, Mater Education and Mater Research. For the position of CFO, a search was conducted across Australia and New Zealand for candidates with a finance background in private, public and not-for-profit hospitals and aged care. The successful candidate, Mr Ian Wright who had been the General Manager Corporate Services at Health Support Queensland.

CFO, Cabrini Health

Cabrini Health is a private not-for-profit healthcare service who provide excellence in their services. The position for a new CFO became available and we were recruited to secure the position. Following an Australian and New Zealand search for Chief Financial Officers or equivalent, there were six candidates shortlisted. Among them were several CFOs from public health services across Australia, a Group General Manager of Finance at a large private hospital group, an internal candidate, a General Manager of Corporate Services at a health department and the General Manager of Finance and Accounting at a large company. In this search, Jason Aquilina (read his latest interview with us here), the internal candidate was the successful candidate.  Whilst often 10% of the candidates we shortlist are internal, of our placements only 8% have been internal candidates.

General Manager, Health Contracts and Revenue, Cabrini Health

We conducted an extensive research, searching across health services and health insurance firms as well as other affiliated organisations, eventually shortlisting four highly regarded candidates. The successful candidate was Jeremy Hose who had previously been the Hospital and Medical Benefits Manager at HCF.

HR Director, Villa Maria Catholic Homes (VMCH)

VMCH is a highly regarded NFP organisation who had a unique opportunity for a HR director to join them as they embarked into the next stage of acquisitive development.

For this search we looked for appropriate candidates in not-for-profit and privately run aged care, disability, hospital and other health related organisations. There were six shortlisted candidates with great potential. The successful candidate was John Mckenna who was previously the CFO at Japara Healthcare.

Company Secretary, Villa Maria Catholic Homes (VMCH)

For this search we looked for Company Secretaries in not-for-profit and privately run aged care, disability, hospitals and other health and human service related organisations. Shortlisted for the role were three exceptional company secretaries all based in Australia. The successful candidate was Natalina Velardi who had previously been at Victoria University.

Group HR Director, Monash IVF

Monash IVF is an assisted reproductive technologies organisation that is highly regarded in Australia. The Group HR Director was a newly created position by the company, for which they envisioned an essential key player to assist in organisational development alongside providing excellent guidance to employees.

The search for this position whilst covering areas of healthcare including specialty medical groups, aged care organisations, hospital groups and government departments; it also included an extensive search in non-health industries including Retail, FMCG, Transport, Recruitment and Utility organisations. There were four shortlisted candidates and Peggy North who had previously worked at Chorus Executive as Chief People and Culture Officer, was successful in securing the position.

Group Procurement Manager, QScan Group

QScan is a highly entrepreneurial radiology group with a vision to be the premium radiology specialist for patients and referrers, providing excellent work, and patient care. The Group Procurement Manager was a new role that was established to implement a sophisticated procurement function and to assist in achieving organisational objectives.

Following a search across specialty medical groups, private hospital groups and radiology vendors, Michael Broadbent was placed in this role, having previously been the National Pre-Contract & Bid Manager at Sonic HealthPlus.
