We are working with a regional Local Health District in NSW on two new leadership positions within their overall regional finance function. This has come about due to a restructure in a bid to open more leadership opportunities within the LHD and provide a specialisation stream. In this case, the opportunity exists as the Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. If you are looking to take that next step moving from management to executive leadership roles, this is an excellent opportunity. You will work in a complex, challenging yet also very rewarding sector of healthcare and work at a high level with senior executives and the ministry of health.

The position reports to the Director of Finance and Performance, who in turn reports to the CE for the health district. There is a genuine focus on bringing in people who have the capability to grow into the Director of Finance position in due course. As the AD of Financial Planning & Analysis, this role will focus on the budgeting, costing and activity-based funding elements for the LHD. Managing a team of 14, the FP&A function covers analysing performance, implementing financial management changes to improve financial performance, facilitating improvements and delivery of LHD wide budgeting. There is a big focus on health information, coding and analysis to improve activity-based funding to the LHD and therefor the community. The position will be central to communicating and working with the NSW Health Ministry.

This role is part of a progressive executive leadership team, who are down to earth and aware that there is always improvement in what they can do. Subsequently the organisation can offer a great place to learn and build your higher-level skills, working collaborative. You will have existing CA and CPA qualified accountants in the team to work with and ensure the skills are there to help you succeed. This opportunity has a lot of moving pieces as the LHD has two base hospitals and over 29 health services facilities or locations across the region. This is a great platform to build you skills in a complex and changing environment.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant CA/CPA accountant, with a strong management accounting background, at least up to senior manager level. It will possibly suit someone from a chartered accounting firm, whereby you current run the business services and outsourced finance function for corporate clients.  Equally it might be a medium to larger corporate where you are looking after the budgeting, management reporting and information systems. There is a competitive salary and location assistance via salary packaging. If you have current healthcare and hospital based experience, especially with understanding coding and activity based funding, would be a highly sort after.
