The Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service is situated in one of Queensland’s most iconic and naturally beautiful regions at the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef. The Health Service provides Acute Care for over 200,000 residents, through Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals as well as a number of smaller rural facilities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer as part of the executive leadership team, The Executive Director of Medical Services is supported by two Deputy Directors of Medical Services and a Director of Clinical Training responsible for managing medical services and clinical governance for 430 doctors. The Executive Director of Medical Services will demonstrate leadership, bringing their experience and vision to the Health Service at  an exciting time in their development which includes a new medical program due for completion in the next couple of years and this person will potentially be appointed Chair of the new tertiary academic structure. Accordingly, they will have excellent communication skills, empathy and  the ability to inspire and influence their immediate team and those around them.

As well as being a natural leader, The Executive Director of Medical Services will be a registered medical practitioner with an additional RACMA qualification or a talented staff specialist stream leader ready to take this role to the next level in line with the exciting future plans for the Health Service.
