The Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN) is a dynamic and innovative organisation. The LHN supports approximately 44,000 residents in regional and remote areas of South Australia, providing a range of integrated inpatient, outpatient, emergency, allied health, mental health, Aboriginal health, community health and aged care services. The health facilities are a mix of large hospitals (Whyalla and Port Augusta Hospitals), multi-purpose sites, smaller sites and residential aged care facilities. The FUNLHN covers a vast geographical footprint of approximately 392,000 square kilometres and employs approximately 1,100 staff across medical, nursing, applied health, ancillary and administration roles.

In this influential role, you will be responsible for ensuring clinical governance for the delivery of safe, high-quality medical care across FUNLHN. You will oversee and coordinate all medical officers and medical service contracts, including Rural GP Agreement contracts. You will work closely with staff specialists and communicate effectively with resident and visiting specialists. In partnership with the LHN Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, you will lead the LHN Clinical Governance structure and facilitate the implementation of effective clinical review mechanisms and quality improvement processes in clinical and medical practice within the FUNLHN. This is a highly strategic position responsible for ensuring clinical provisioning and sustainable service delivery models across the LHN.

You will hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent, along with appropriate specialist qualifications and be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia. You will have a proven track record of experience in providing leadership to a complex multidisciplinary organisation in a climate of continuing change, increasing the effectiveness and accountability of an organisation and its programs. Along with strategic foresight and the ability to think at a system-wide level, you will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to engage, motivate, build trust and inspire others to achieve objectives.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
