We are delighted to partner with a national private hospital group in the search and selection of an experienced Health Information Manager (HIM) for a hospital in Perth. As a part of a network of hospitals, the successful candidate will join a collaborative, supportive and patient-focused organisation at an exciting time.

  • Western Australia’s leading private provider of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery supported by the largest private Critical Care Unit.
  • Medical/surgical private hospital with circa 180 beds; other specialities include orthopaedics, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and general surgery.
  • Opportunity to lead the delivery of efficient and accurate coding for all patient discharges, and assist the site in medical record management, data reporting, and related activities to ensure an industry-leading customer service experience.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the HIM will be responsible for:

  • Delivering an exceptional coding service by accurately and efficiently assigning ICD-10-AM for patient discharges across all specialities and by maintaining high coding standards and completion within set timeframes.
  • Providing excellent customer service to the site and department by assisting with medical record management activities, general administration duties as required, and by managing the Release of Information required to external sources.
  • Supporting the organisation’s safety and quality improvement, and achievement of accreditation by actively participating in department meetings (casemix and coding), coding audits, quality and risk reduction activities and accreditation preparation events. Ensuring compliance with and participation in the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.
  • Acting as a valued and respectful member of the team by promoting a professional and positive team culture and assisting with training new and less experienced staff. Provide coding, documentation and casemix and revenue advice and education to clinical and non-clinical staff and demonstrate attention to detail and time management.
  • Demonstrating operational efficiency by providing timely and accurate completion of coding for all patient discharges, and by sharing ideas and supporting changes to enable process and service improvements.
