The Centre for Inflammation (CFI), Faculty of Science is the first initiative joint programme between the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Centenary Institute (CI). The Centre for Inflammation’s focus is on investigating the development and progression of chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD, asthma, lung cancer and infections. The Senior Operations Manager will be working in a complex environment with multiple priorities. UTS’s Science’s new strategic plan identifies CFI as a key component of the faculty’s research and teaching focus moving forward, and as a result the faculty is seeking to appoint a Senior Operations Manager.
The Senior Operations Manager will provide strategic advice on operational matters to the CFI Director and other centre team members and is responsible for establishing and executing the governance processes and operational procedures for the CFI. They will be tasked with providing strategic direction on the growth of the centre and support the Director in executing the multiyear Centre Plan. They will maintain executive-level communications with the CFI director, Centenary Institute, the university, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders. Budgetary management and the reporting on major CFI projects to stakeholders are key components of this position. The Senior Operations Manager will report to the Faculty General Manager, working closely with the Centre Director.
To be successful in this role you will have experience in dealing with senior researchers and administrators. You possess a strong motivation to succeed, a demonstrated knowledge of the university sector along with an understanding of the contribution of administrative policies and procedures for academic objectives. Experience in the MRI environment would be highly regarded. You will have an undergraduate degree and at least five years’ experience in an operations management position, with post-graduate qualifications desirable. Flexible working arrangements.
