In early 2015, the Board of Mater Group (formerly Mater Misericordiae Ltd) Brisbane, commissioned Ccentric Group to search for a CEO as the incumbent CEO was retiring after some 14 years. Wayne Bruce undertook the assignment on behalf of Ccentric.
The search was extensive, well conducted and resulted in a number of highly qualified candidates including a number of internal candidates.
The process resulted in the successful candidate commencing at the Mater in July 2015. The Directors and I involved in the process highly commend Ccentric for their detailed presentations, continued communication and professional approach throughout the assignment.
Thank you for undertaking the recent successful executive search for the position of Chief Executive, Monash Health.
We were impressed by the depth and span of Ccentric’s reach into both the domestic and international markets in bringing together a very strong list of potential candidates.
In particular, the selection committee valued the insights provided by the depth of Ccentric’s assessment of the potential candidates in response to the position brief, which greatly assisted the committee in coming to a final recommendation.
In 2014 the Board of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and the Ministry of Health chose the Ccentric Group to undertake a search for a new Chief Executive for the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. The district is one of New South Wales’ largest and most complex having five teaching hospitals, almost a million local residents and housing major trauma and other complex state-wide services.
Of particular interest to the Board was the need for Ccentric to understand the complexities of the need for deep cultural change, realignment of services and our focus on excellence in patient. The Board was very pleased with the extent of Ccentric’s engagement on these crucial issues and this resulted in their success in accurately defining a brief and targeting excellent candidates from four countries.
Ccentric’s understanding of our needs, and their translation of that understanding into the preparation of an excellent shortlist of candidates, accompanied by good advice, was appreciated by the Board. The interview process was geared to gaining from each candidate, evidence of their personal capacity, critical thinking and the likelihood of excellent performance in a dynamic environment.
The summary advice following the interviews was a helpful step in our choosing the candidate that met our criteria and had the core personal competencies to lead such a large organisation through great change.
Our appointment has been a success. The follow up from Ccentric has been useful and appreciated. I am pleased to comment Ccentric to those requiring a highly professional and knowledgeable consultant.

I am pleased to write a letter of reference regarding the executive search service offered recently to Sydney Health Partners by Ccentric.
The search was for the Executive Director of Sydney Health Partners and required an international search and a very high standard was expected of the appointee. A strong, competitive and highly diverse field was assembled which culminated in a very satisfactory appointment. The selection committee valued the insights provided by the depth of Ccentric’s assessment of the potential candidates. This greatly assisted the committee in coming to a final recommendation.
The ultimate value judgement of any executive search must be the quality of the appointment that is made. Search firms do not, in my experience, always find the balance between the interests of the client and those of the candidates easy to maintain. In this case, I felt this was never in doubt due to the excellent communication skills of the Ccentric team.
Based on our recent experience with Ccentric, I am pleased to recommend them to you.

I am pleased to write a letter of reference regarding the executive search service offered recently to the University of Hong Kong. The search was for one of our Faculty Dean positions, requiring an international search and a very high standard expected of the appointee and indeed of the field. We also required of the firm a very stringent timescale, which I must admit (as the person that set the timescale) looked at the outset highly optimistic. In fact, the search was completed on time with a highly satisfactory outcome: a strong, competitive and highly diverse international field was assembled, and this culminated in an appointment with which we are very satisfied.
The ultimate value judgement of any executive search must be the quality of the appointment that is made, but there were other aspects on which I would also comment. The paperwork was clear and informative, always provided on schedule. The attendance at meetings and the availability for phone calls or messages in between meetings were excellent. The professionalism, tact and diligence with which the sometimes sensitive communications were handled was at all times exemplary. I would highly recommend these services to you.
