The Changing Face of Clinical Careers

Ccentric GroupWavelength International and Creative Careers in Medicine are delighted to discuss our new, first of its kind research about the changing face of clinical careers.

With our research indicating that 72% of clinical professionals are considering divergent career opportunities, what could this mean for the future of healthcare?  Check out our key takeaways for a snapshot of the findings or the full white paper is available for download below.

Digital Health Webinars

To present this information to the market we hosted two webinars recently; one aimed at Clients, hiring managers, or HR executives looking to recruit for digital health jobs; and one aimed at Candidates, people potentially interested in entering the digital health workforce.

Our Speakers

Candidate Webinar

In our candidate webinar we highlighted:

  • The careers available to healthcare professionals, outside of traditional clinical work
  • What motivates and inspires clinicians to consider divergent careers in medicine
  • The future of the healthcare industry and the possible impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic

Candidate Webinar Poll Results

During the webinar, we polled candidates on their views on if they expected the same wage if they took a divergent career, the effect of COVID-19 on their career trajectory and their area of interest outside of clinical work. The results from the candidate poll highlighted:

  • Almost 60% of respondents said that they would expect to earn the same wage if they were to take up a divergent career opportunity.
  • Half of all candidates indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their view of their career trajectory.
  • The top two areas where candidates said they were most interested outside of clinical work were medical education and coaching (25%), followed by digital health (18%)

Client & Hiring Manager Webinar

In our client webinar we highlighted the following:

  • What factors, motivations and inspirations contribute to clinicians considering a divergent career in medicine
  • The careers available to healthcare professionals, outside of traditional clinical work; and how digital health executive search can work
  • The future of the healthcare industry and the possible impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic

Client Webinar Poll Results

For our client webinar, we were interested in their positions on how much they would pay clinicians who move into a non-patient facing role, did the COVID-19 pandemic accelerate their adoption of digital health in their organisation, and finally, what were their future intentions in hiring clinicians into non-traditional clinical roles. The results highlighted that:

  • 58% of clients anticipate that they will pay clinicians the same as their clinical roles if they moved into a non-patient facing role. With only 5% reporting that they would pay more than their clinical role.
  • A strong consensus that 91% of respondents believed that COVID-19 accelerated their adoption of digital health within their organisation
  • Two-fifths of clients indicated that in the future they would increase their hiring for non-traditional clinical positions within their organisation.
