Who’s Moving July 2016 tracks who has moved careers in the healthcare, academic and life sciences sectors globally.

Professor Shitij Kapur is leaving his role at King’s College London as Executive Dean of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience to move to Melbourne where he will start in October as the new Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences as well as Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Health) at the University of Melbourne. Ms Michele Gellatly is joining Villa Maria Catholic Homes in Melbourne as General Manager, Human Resources.  Michele previously held senior HR roles at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Telstra.

Ms Janine Loader is the new Executive Director of the Mater Hospital in North Sydney. Janine moves from Melbourne within St Vincent’s Health Australia to take up her new post in NSW.

Ms Deborah Lee the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is taking up the CEO position at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust following Frank Harsent’s retirement.

Mr Arthur Yannakou is leaving his position as National Director Private Hospitals at LCM Healthcare to move to Uniting Care Queensland as Group Executive Health

Mr Andrew Stripp the former Chief Operating Officer at Alfred Health has moved to Monash Health as the new Chief Executive Officer. Joining him at Monash Health is Mr Martin Keogh who was the Clinical Services Director of Emergency & Acute Medicine at Alfred Health.

Dr Michael Brydon, previously Acting CE, has been appointed as the permanent CE for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

Professor Jane Farmer who has been at La Trobe University as Associate Dean Research is moving to Swinburne University to the Centre for Social Impact where she will be Professor of Social Innovation.

Mr Callan Battley is joining Mater Health Services Brisbane as Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, leaving his position as Director of Nursing at The Wesley Hospital.

Professor Karen O’Brien is set to take over from the retiring Professor Chris Wickham as Head of the Humanities Division at the University of Oxford in September. Professor O’Brien has been Vice-Principal (Education) at King’s College London.

Mr Matt Hanrahan, who has held the role of CEO for Central Coast LHD for the past 5 years, has been appointed as the COO at LCM Healthcare, based from Sydney.

Mr Alex Demidov, previously GM of Nepean Private Hospital, has been appointed as the COO for Evolution Health Care, based from Sydney.

Mr Simon Rodger has taken over from Alex Demidov as the new General Manager for Nepean Private Hospital.

Dr Michael Beckmann has been promoted to Director of Mothers, Babies and Women’s Health Services at Mater Health Service

The University of Exeter welcomes a new ProViceChancellor and Executive Dean of the Business School; Professor David Allen is taking up the position, moving from his post as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Surrey.

Ms Laura Lanier is leaving her position at Sydney South West Private Hospital to become the new Deputy Director of Nursing at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney.

Professor of Nursing, Eleanor Holroyd is moving from one university to another in Auckland. She leaves behind her role at the Auckland University of Technology to take up a new 3-year contract at the University of Auckland.

Ms Gabriella Ramsay is moving from her position as Director of Workforce at Southern Adelaide LHN to Executive Director People & Culture at Women’s and Children’s Health Network

Professor Eeva Leinonen joined Murdoch University as Vice-Chancellor in April 2016, after three years of service as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Wollongong.

Ms Areti Gavrilidis as the new Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners General Manager. She has been in leadership roles in the healthcare system in Queensland and Victoria for over twenty years.

Professor Carlo Marra is moving to New Zealand in August to take up the position of Dean of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Otago. Professor Marra is moving from Canada where he has been Dean of Pharmacy at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Also newly appointed at the University of Otago is Mr Dave Scott currently a senior Dunedin police officer has been announced as the new Proctor for the University.

Mr Alan Lilly is leaving his position as Chief Executive Officer at Eastern Health to move to BlueCross as Chief Executive Officer.

Professor Nicholas Fisk is leaving his position at the University of Queensland as Executive Dean of Health to take up the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research at the University of New South Wales.

Ms Sue Thurbon has been appointed the new Director of Nursing at Mater Misercordiae Hospital Rockhampton. Ms Thurbon has held many management positions throughout Queensland including General Manager Sunnybank Private and Executive Manager Theatre and Quality at Allamanda Private.

Mr Malcolm Lowe-Lauri is leaving KPMG Australia where he is Executive Director – Health, Ageing & Human Services to become the new Executive Director of Cambridge University Health Partners.

Professor Tim Jones who is currently the Interim Provost at the University of Warwick will be moving to the University of Birmingham as the new Provost and Vice-President.
