Who’s Moving June 2020

Who’s Moving June 2020 tracks who has moved careers across the healthcare, academic healthcare, life sciences, not-for-profit, human services and digital health sectors, globally. At Ccentric we have had the pleasure of working with an excellent group of candidates over the last month and would like to congratulate the following on their new positions.


Mr Mark Macfarlane has been appointed into the position of Finance Manager for Newcastle and Hunter Valley Private Hospitals, leaving his position in the Queensland Public Health sector.

Former CFO of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network & CEO of Northeast Health Wangaratta Ms Lisette (Lis) Wilson has been announced as the new Executive Director of Finance for Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network.

Associate Professor Ruth Vine has been appointed the inaugural Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Mental Health at the Department of Health Australia. Ruth has held many senior mental health leadership roles including Executive Director of the North West Mental Health service and Chief Psychiatrist of the Victoria Department of Health and Human Services.

Mr Steve Zappia has joined Exact Radiology as their Chief Executive Officer, leaving his role at Virtus Health as State Manager.

Dr Thomas Chan is leaving his role as Director of Emergency at Austin Health, moving to Mercy Health as Clinical Services Director – Medicine, Subacute & Palliative Care.

Following the retirement of Vicki Pridmore, Ms Terri Smith has commenced as CEO of BreastScreen Victoria. Terri has most recently been the CEO of Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australian (PANDA).

Former NSW Premier, Mr Mike Baird will be leaving National Australia Bank to take up the role of CEO at HammondCare.

Professor Jane Mills has been announced as the new Head of School of the La Trobe Rural Health School replacing Professor Pamela Snow. Professor Mills will be moving back to Australia from her role at Massey University. Professor Snow stepped down from the Head of School position to take up the newly created position of Professor of Cognitive Psychology in the La Trobe School of Education.

Dr Serena Ayers has joined St John God Healthcare at Hawkesbury District Health Service as their new Director of Emergency Medicine. Dr Ayers has recently been at Liverpool Hospital and working with My Emergency Dr.

Dr Georgia Hinton has joined 3Shape as General Manager Asia Pacific, leaving her role as Director of Scientific Operations and Business Development at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

Associate Professor Simon Keating has left Northern Health where he was Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer to take up the role of Managing Director with iMedX.

Ms Robin Copeland is moving to Melbourne to take up the role of Director of Workforce Planning and Business Partnerships at the Royal Women’s Hospital leaving her position as Associate Director HR Services at Griffith University.

Ms Tracie Dawber has joined Calvary Healthcare SA as the Finance Director for Calvary North Adelaide & Central Districts, after departing her position at the City of Adelaide.

Mr Paul Darcy has joined South Eastern Sydney Local Health District as the new General Manager for St George Hospital, departing his position as COO at Northern Beaches Hospital.

Ms Rebecca Tyson has been appointed in the position of General Manager for Westmead and Auburn Hospitals within Western Sydney Local Health District. She joins the organisation from St George Hospital within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

Dr Shannon Nott has commenced his new role at eHealth NSW as Clinical Director Virtual Care Accelerator, leaving Western NSW LHD as Rural Health Director of Medical Services.

Ms Deborah Carroll has been appointed into the Chief Executive Officer position at Wide Bay HHS having previously acted in the role since October 2019.

Mr Kelly Smith has joined Murdoch University from La Trobe University, taking up the position of Pro Vice Chancellor International and Dean International for the College of Arts, Business, Law and Social Sciences.

Mr Chris Smedley has joined Virtus Health as General Manager Queensland. He has most recently been CEO of Assure Programs.

Professor Miles Beaman has been appointed onto the Chief Pathologist position at PathWest after previously serving as the lead microbiologist with PathWest.

Ms Louise O’Neill has been appointed as the inaugural Chief Executive Office of Aged Care Workforce Industry Council, leaving Australian Department of Health as Stakeholder Manager.

Mr Adam Horsburgh has been appointed as the Chief Executive Office of Austin Health, leaving Melbourne Health as Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer.
